Setup Of WinME Client on SBS 4.5 Network

By Gary T. H. Novosel ·
I am attempting to setup a WinME client on a SBS 4.5 network. Using the "Add A Computer" wizard on the SBS Console, I create a setup disk for the client. However, I cannot use this disk on the WinME client as the setup program provided is not WinME capable.

As such, I am assuming that I need to manually setup the client's network properties. As I have always relied on the tried and true setup disks I am rusty on doing this.

As such...

What is the procedure to manually add a WinME client to a SBS 4.5 network (once the computer account is setup on the server as it is in this case)?

Thanks,

Gary

Well it depends on what you need to have on the client.

Outlook or Office is in the \\srv\clientapps folder you can browse there and manually sart the install. Then configure the email profile (control pannel, mail icon).

You can manually set it to use proxy but this causes some problems with FTP and realplayer stuff, again you can run the client setup from \\srv\mspclnt

The fax and modem sharing are in the \\srv\clientapps, you might want to check the microsoft site I know they have updates for Win2K Pro, I think you are Ok on Winme

Hope some of this helps

Actually, I was looking for required network setting to simply connect to the server.

I was able to get this information from other sources.
