setup.log

My laptop says

Service pack. setup connot open or modify your setup.log file

I get this when every i try to install
service pack 6a or even SP5...
Could i get the details on fixing this..

Technet article Q175960 has your problem and the fix for it.

GO to dos window to use the dos command
attrib setup.log -r -s

-r this removes read olny status
-s this removes system file status

then do
dir
you now should see the file and it can be written to

then do
exit

now reinstall and it should work
some how setup.log must have gotten attribed read olny

OK I dont not have a Repair file at all on my root directory. and i can not copy it from another pc please help?!
