Share a mapped drive

By kashmeir63 ·
Hi,
On a windows nt4.0 server I have a mapped drive from another computer. Is it possible to share a mapped drive from the server to a windows 98 computer(client)? Maybe using the net use commands. I was unable to do this. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can share a drive or even a folder or directory from an NT 4.0 server to a Win98 PC. Howver, you cannot map a drive from one PC to another PC's mapped drive, if you get my drift. In other words, if the drive you are trying to map on the Win98 PC is pointing to a mapped drive on the Win NT server, this will not work. You must create a shared drive, folder, or directory and assign the permissions for the users or groups you want to access. If you would like detailed instructions on the basics of setting up a share and then mapping a drive check out this site: (no spaces between characters)http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/msnetmap.htm

Also if you go to google and in the search string type: 'Sharing and mapping a drive' you will get some other sites that my be of assistance.

Hope this helps!
