Share a windows drive across internet

By Alfz ·
I have a remote computer (static public IP,windows 2003 server, NO domain) which I can access via Windows Remote Desktop, and have administrator rights.

I want to connect a network unit in my home pc via internet, to a remote shared folder in this remote computer.

Is there an easy way to do it? No need to secure connections, VPN, etc... just an easy way, so I can type \\RemotePublicAddress in my windows XP, an access it as if it was on my home LAN.

Try to define a network drive to this folder.
For this use the ?net use? command from a command window.
For help lunch the ?net use? command with ?/?? parameter.

Hei!

There's an easy solution but not very fast...
You'll need IIS and a web site running on your server.
Navigate to the folder or drive your want to access-->right click-->properties
Go to the web sharing panel and check "Share this folder" give it an alias and the rights your want.
Now you are able to access it like
http://yourIP/alias
Now if you wish, you can add it to the drives in "MY COMPUTER" like every other one:
Click ools-->Map Network Drive
give it the letter you want and write the complete URL in the folder box. Username and password are the one you use to log into your server.

Remember to set the right NTFS rights for the folder/drive.

You don't need to have something on the web site. Just one in IIS.
