Share Printer over network

By handan ·
I have 3 PCs over network.
Two PCs are installed w/ Windows 2000.
Another one w/ Windows 98.
I want to share the local printer connected to the Windows 2000 PC with other PCs.
How do I share the printer with Windows 98 PC?

Thanks.

There are two ways to do that:

1. Install on the W2K server additional drivers (Star>Printers, select the printer, rightclick it > Properties>Sharing and check Additional Drivers) for W98 system. Once you did that, you go to printer>sharing... and you create a share name for the printer and then you check "share this printer". Then, from the w98 computers, browse the network towards the W2k computer and dubleclick on the printer share name, and follow the instructions to install the printer on the W98 clients.

2. Create a share name and share the printer in W2k. Use the CD provided for installing the printer on W98 computers, and when asked, choose the "Network printer..." option, and browse the network towards the W2K computer and click on the printer's share name. Finish the installation of the printer.

The difference between the two obtions is that if you use 1., you'll never need the printer CD for the other computers. And if any new w98 client will appear, he'll just has to doubleclick on the printer's share name.
Good luck!

W2K server = W2K computer with the printer directly connected

I QUOTE:
"You could share the printer between the win2k but not on windows 98. You can't see the Win98 on Win2k network"

WHO'S THE "SMART ONE" THAT SAID YOU SUCH THING?!? or I better don't ask, because I think I guess the answer.

You could share the printer between the win2k but not on windows 98. You can't see the Win98 on Win2k network.
