We have an Excel file that mutliple users can access and update at the same time. We have one specific user that when opening it, Windows NT performs a Dr. Watson. We let the user log into a Win 95 box and when she opens it, an illegal operation is performed. Excel is looking at the user name used for Office (located at Tools-Options-General Tab). If it sees her name, it crashes. If we change the name to anything else, the worksheet opens. We’ve never seen anything like this. Is there a file embedded in Excel somewhere that is holding her name? How can we clear it from this shared worksheet? We told it to delete all history and it still crashes if her name is entered into Office. Not only is this very odd, the user is taking it personally!We haven’t used “shared” workbooks before so this is new to us. What could she have done to the file to make it lock up like that? If anyone has seen this, please help shed some light on the subject. Our current solution was to add her middle initial to her name and it lets her open it without care.
