I have 2 computers running XP Home SP2.
The first one is connected to the internet via a wireless adapter to a wireless router which is then connected to a wireless broadband modem (I’m out in the boonies and the only broadband is wireless – yourlink.ca)
I want to connect the second computer to the internet through my first one. Both computers have 100Mbps network cards and I have connected them using a crossover CAT5 cable.
I ran network setup wizard and chose “this computer directly connects to the internet” on the first computer which let me chose the proper NIC the I use for the internet. I then ran the wizard on the second computer.
I disabled windows firewall on both (all 3 connections) and had to manually assign IPs to the hard wired network.
I can now see and share files between the 2 computers but I cannot access the internet from either of them.
If I disable the local network on the first computer I can then get to the internet through the wireless.
Is there any way I can get it all to work???
Please help!
Thanks in advance.
