shared printer on NT4 WKS

i have a shared printer connected to NT4 workstation ,i have installed a WIN XP pro
system in the n/w, when i tried to intalled the print , it is giving a message "the printer drivers are not in os of the m/c(NT WKS4) and i am enable to install itany solutions

Have you tried local drivers (install it as a local prn) then map a port listing (ie LPT2) for it?

check to see if the printer drivers used by xp pro are compatible with that from the winnt40 box. sometimes the manuf has to supply different drivers for the updated OS versions. you could also check the HCL(hardware compatability list) for win xppro from microsoft site. also make sure the nt box has the printer shared. install the drivers locally on xp(if they do not come with OS).
