Shared Printers & Folders

By sfc_gijoe ·
Have 30 computers all with WinXP Pro in a Lab that log into an NT4 server. When sharing a printer via LPT1 or mapping a drive to the computer at the front of the room It always gives an error about a shared violation. Upon researching this problem I found out there is a 10 user limit. Is there a registry edit or server function I can do to increase this limit???

Thanks

This limit exist and can't be modified only on workstations (WinXP...).

I guess you have the printer plugged into the workstation. That is not recommended.

You should plug the printer into a network port, instead. If the printer doesn't have one you can buy a cheap print server at the store $30-$100.

Then setup the queue on the server, instead of the workstation. I am assuming you have 30 CALs for the NT Server, so everyone will be able to connect now.

PS NT is ancient, Server 2003 is amazing!! Check it out.
