shared printers on a mixed nt/98 network

by bgordon . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

I have a NT network with two 98 machines that are set to share local printer. The printer on the NT box has no problem. The 98 computers have 3 printers (lpt1-3). This is a quick listing of printers / ports and problems:
NT server
LPT1 – Panasonic KXP1123 – shared as “Receipts”
LPT2 – Panasonic KXP1150 – shared as “Police”

WorkStation #1 – Windows 98
LPT1 – Panasonic KXP1123 – shared as “Labels” (works fine locally)
LPT2 – mapped to “Receipts” (works fine)
LPT3 – mapped to “Police” (works fine)

WorkStation #2 – Windows 98
LPT1 – mapped to “Labels” (random bits of garbage to printer)
LPT2 – mapped to “Receipts” (works fine)
LPT3 – mapped to “Police” (works fine)

All printer definitions set to print to DOS apps.
All printer definitions set to spool. (ECF)
WS-1 port options – no spool of DOS jobs (didn’t print if spool set)
– Check port before print – ON

Any Ideas?
All suggestions will be appreciated
