sharepoint 2007 site to site migration...

By techrepublic ·
Hi all, im currently working on a sharepoint 2007 server migration from a 2007 installation to a 2007 installation. I just got thrown into this sharepoint project to discover that the initial sharepoint setup was rushed and has many problems. the ssp is throwing a provision failed error, the admin site is down, the site is saying its not configured, etc, etc.

There are lots of problems so we have decided to setup a parallel sharepoint server, not in the same farm. I really dont want any of the old problems on the new server.

I've successfully setup a clean installation but now have the task of migrating the current site (which unfortunately has been worked on) to the new server. there is also sql integration (on a different server) to worry about.

Furthermore the backup on the old server is failing on the object "shared search index" portion. This is because of the problematic setup im sure. The rest looks ok and from what I know this area isnt critical??

looking for some thoughts, suggestions or advice to help get me through this.
