SharePoint 3.0 Cannot login from server computer

By jmercado ·
Regardless of the credentials that you supply, the dialog box continues to reappear until you enter your credentials three times or you click Cancel. I cannot figure out why this is happening. I am able to login to all other computers with the same credentials.

It's only effecting the server computer in which I setup sharepoint. I can logon to the SharePoint Central Administration but not the actual sharepoint site.

I've done all the obvious, changing the permissions and firewalls and internet settings, what else could there be?

please let me know if anyone has run into anything like this.

by jmercado In reply to SharePoint 3.0 Cannot log ...

I found the answer when I viewed the properties of the application pool connected to the portal.

The identity was not set correctly, once I changed this I was able to log in to the server computer finally.

All I did was go to the IIS manager, locate the application pool that was associated with the website I was having problems with.

And right click properties on the application pool and change the "Idenitity" to "local sysetm"

Save and recylcle. This worked for me, not sure if it is the answer.
