sharing a cdrw drive

By jim ·
Is it possible to share a cdrw drive on a network for the purpose of writting to it?
W2K-pro
Plextor 16/10/40a IDE drive

I know how to share a drive on the network but what software is compatible with writting to the cdrw drive in a peer to peer fashion?

The cdrw requires a certain consistent speed in order for a reliable write (read: "it probably will not work across network shares for writes).

It's probably possible to create the share and read from the network reliably... but writing? I don't think that you will be pleased with the results. You would have to install the software on both computers. You would have to map the cdrw share (across computers) to the software.

I'm not sure that any software will map to a cdrw across thenetwork and write. Nero 5.x does not; Easy CD Creator does not.

I'd recommend that you move the cd-rw to the local computer; install the software; and do your writes locally.
