Sharing an Exchange Mailbox

By gary5500 ·
In my environment I have a mailbox that three users see and access at the same time, is there a way I can setr it up so that if one of the users has an e-mail open, the other two cannot open that same e-mail on their PC's? Oh also using Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003

Hi Gary,

Given what little I know about exchange and the fact that nobody else has answered this question in many months, I have to think the answer to your question is 'no'.
We use Outlook 2003 with an older version of MS exchange here,a nd the options assoicated with an exchange account are certainly limited. I think the best way for one of the users to know if they are retracing the steps of their co-worker is if the message in question is marked as having already been read or not.
Beyond that, I think you may have to get creative in dealing with messages: I'd suggest that each of the three users flag messages they are handling, each using a different flag color.
They could subsequently mark these as 'flag completed' in order to leave a more or less permanent check mark against a particular message. Hope that helps!
