Sharing emails over a lan

by yawallace . Updated 25 years, 5 months ago

I have a client with multiple email accounts. Client is also running a 6 unit peer to peer network made up of portable computers and one standalone (connected to the internet via isdn) Each machine is equivalent to an email account and each has direct access to all accounts. They take a portable out of the office and download emails directly but they often pick up mail for another account. In a perfect world all email would come to the server be sorted by account. Each account would have access to every other account (there is much data sharing by neccisity). The server should have access to the data on a portable when it returns to the office and rejoins the network. I’ve tried to configure outlook but only with partial success. Exchange Server is not the answer. I need multiuser email but can’t find any. All the solutions seem web based and I really need to confine it to the lan. Has anyone configured outlook to share external folders or can you suggest a solution. It has to be as easy and familiar as outlook or outlook express. In anticipation – many thanks.
