Sharing on a Peer-to-Peer Network

by rawright . Updated 23 years, 11 months ago

I recently installed a new XP network – 3 identical Dell machines – linked by wireless cards and sharing an Internet connection through a Residential Gateway. I created 4 identical user accounts on each machine, as there are 4 potential users and there’s no way to dictate which PC each might use. It all works fine – printers print, and folders in the Shared Folders of each PC are usable by the others. The problem is installing a program that relies on a shared DB on one host, but which must be accessed by all 3. Remote hosts are denied access to the DB, and I can’t map the drive! I’ve shared the DB folder with everyone, opened up all permissions, yet the problem persists. The Simple mode is off, giving me full control over security, but I can’t find a way to do this short of dragging the DB to the Shared Folders! Any ideas?
