Sharing Outlook 98/2000 Calendars withou

I need to give users access to my Outlook Calendar (Schedule). I’ve read sheet’s from Technet and it says that I can only do it with Exchange. There must be another way. I have a ton of pre-existing email and would like not to loose it. Also, the people connecting to my file also have their own email and calendar’s as well. The solution must be simplistic cuz they are not extremely computer literate.

You could give them access to your calendar by making them delegates. In Outlook go to tools, then options, then click on the delegates tab. You can add users their and then give them permissions to whatever folders you want. They access your calendar by clicking on File, then Open, then Open other users folder.

Personally, I use Exchange for all local users and Net Folders for Remote users that aren’t on Exchange. Hope this helps.

Outlook 2000 supports the concept of ‘Net Folders’… Check out the following KB article from MS

Both Outlook 98 and 2000 support Net Folders, but the setup is a bit tricky and its buggy. I have known people that have gotten it to work, though. Other than possible 3rd party solutions, this is the only way without Exchange. Read the TechNet articles – look up “Net Folders” – and follow their directions carefully. Good luck!

If you are using Windows 95, try to install Microsoft Mail (it’s include in Windows 95 installation disk).

to connect from outlook client, install the mirosoft mail service.
