Sharing Violations

by frank krebs . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

We are getting a number of sharing violations, where when you try to download or save a file to a network drive, it gives the error message that you don’t have modify rights (202:0x898E). As administrator I do have the modify right on that server, folder and file. Once you get that error message, it puts a file with the name
you just tried to save on the drive, with 0kb, and you can’t rename, move, write over or delete it. This is happening on several drives and is happening to three or fourof us. We are all using Win2k professional, though you can’t affect these files from a Win 98or NT4 box either. Any ideas or suggestions.
