SHARING WIN98 PROGRAM TO RUN ON XP CPU?

By vdawson ·
OK, here goes...I have6 win98 PC's and 2 XP's PC's anall are networked with CAT5,NIC dards, going to a switch, which in turn goes to the 4-port router/print server.Everything works fine EXCEPT I have 3 software programs that do not run on XP, I needto have the XP users to have axcess to these Software titles. I know how to share files.....BUT how and can I share the programs themselves???????? SO the XP user can work on his/her machine with an app on the 98 box??

SHARING WIN98 PROGRAM TO RUN ON XP CPU?

well without more info about the programs the answer is probably..no. because required files like dlls would not exist on the computers without installing the program locally. did you try installing the program on XP, then right-clicking on the executable (eg. mygame.exe) then picking compatibility mode? that is only thing i can think of...what are the programs?

The only option I can think of is to use a remote control program such as PCAnywhere to give the XP users control of the 98 machines. This would of course mean that no-one else could use the 98 PC while they had control. There is no way to force theprogram to run under XP even if it is installed elsewhere. Another option would be to ask the manufacturer for an upgrade that is XP compatible.
