Is there a way to share a phonebook in Windows 2000 (Professional) among a group of users?
With NT4.0 you could simply select a different path for the phonebook, put it on a shared drive and everyone used the same, up-to-date, phonebook.
So far, the best way I’ve found is to copy the rasphone.pbk file to each PC. This is a pain as users forget to update the phonebook and end up using out-dated entries.
The next best way is to create a shortcut on the desktop to a shared rasphone.pbk on the network. This keeps it current, but there is no visual way to tell that you have a modem connection (even checking the box for display connection in task bar) and the only way to hang up is to click the shortcut again to hang-up. Also, you can’t get the connection details using this method.
I would really like a way to mimic the functionality in Win NT4.0
