Shift Key problem…please help

at my wit’s end. have done untold google searches and cannot find the answer.

when i try to capitalise a letter, my left shift key automatically opens a search window at the left side of the web page and similarly opens the find window in outlook express. my right shift key puts a capital D in front of everything….arrrgh

have set accessibility options to default…what else?

Is this a laptop of desktop w/keyboard?

If a desktop, test with a different keyboard.

If a different keyboard doesn’t work as you described, then you KNOW the old keyboard is kaput and needs to be replaced.

If testing with a different keyboard produces the same results, check to see if you have some Key Remapping program installed which reassigns the function of some keys.
