Shld i use dmi tool to fix bios // laptop physical damage

    by amrfahmy420 ·

    Hi,,

My hp ac035ne laptop fell down and took a bad hit, while charger is connected. now when i plug it in, the little light indicates its connected but when i turn the power on, i get :
“System Board 00A System CT Number” is missing or invalid error.
It will allow windows to start, but since the battery is broken and wont charge more than 5%, the pc shuts down before windows starts up.

After searching online, I found out this means that the motherboard cannot read the power adapter and wont use it to power the machine or charge the battery because the BIOS no longer contains the correct CT number, thats what i understood.
I also found that this CT number issue can be fixed using hp DMI tool to re write the missing/invalid information into the BIOS, in hope that this would fix the issue without having to check the hardware at least on the short run.

So would you guys recommend that i try the DMI tool fix using a bootable usb at home, or would this be bad decision that ll lead to worse problems and become harder to fix??

Thanks alot for helping out because this would make a big difference right now

    Chill
