shortcuts

I have a small windows network. I have w2k server with active directory. and several win 98 me an w2k clients. I want to be able to have all clients automatically be saving an files created by any of their applications to a directories on the win 2kserver. I had created a folder on the server then all mapped to it. Then for each app I created a short cut on each desktop and then in the Start In field I typed in the mapped \\server\sharename. But it did not work. any help would be grateful..thanks
