Should I enable MS automatic windows updates on servers?

By eliseob ·
I recently took over as a network admin for an SBS 2003 environment. I have been out of the daily sys admin world for about four years now. Should I enable automatic updates on my servers? I saw where there was once a WUS server in place but haven't gotten that far yet.

Either do it manually, or consider a solution like Lumension Patchlink.

Too much risk that something will break, and there are many times when the update process will reboot the server all by itself.

WSUS is a reasonable compromise, but a lot depends on how critical your servers are, and how many you have.

I'm not a shil for Patchlink, but it can patch non-MSFT products, which is very useful.
