Hi Everyone,
I have a situation I need some input on, I?m sure someone here can help. I?ve been working now at a site as a Netadmin for several years. I built it from the ground up. Just about all the switches (19 in all) and layer3 switches (6 inall) are 3com. I use class C privet IP addressing schema (DHCP) with one subnet for Servers and another subnet for users and have one T1. Originally there was not much need for much more, however, over the past year the company has grown considerably to the point were IP addresses are low and the future forcast for company growth is very good. Here?s what I was thinking of doing:
1) Implement Class B addressing
2) Implement VLAN?s for all the departments. (7 total)
I have very little experience with Vlans and haven?t been able to find much info to the follwing questions:
1) Will Vlans even effect IP addressing and DNS, DHCP?
2) How will DHCP react to the Vlans?
3) How will DNS react to the Vlans?
This is just some Ideas, but any help would be greatly appreciated!
