Shring Printers on Win2K Pro

By michaeldanielwinn ·
There is probably an easy solution to this but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I have a home network with 3 PC's connected through a Linksys router. All 3 PC's are using Win2K pro. I shared a printer on my PC and set the permissions to EVERYBODY and ALLOWED all options, but when I try to print from another computer I cannot access the printer unless I first goto MY NETWORK PLACES and select the PC with the printer and then type in a name and password to CONNECT to that PC. Is there a way to print to the printer with out having to CONNECT to that PC through MY NETWORK PLACES. By the way, I am using a workgroup not a domain and all of the PC's have the default workgroup name listed (WORKGROUP).

On the pc that is sharing the computer.....

Create the same USERNAMES and PASSWORDS that the other computers are using to access their computers.

By Default, the system DISABLES the guest account, so if they don't have a login name and password on your pc (a guest) they will have to type in user and pass each time.

Just create their name and pass on your sharing pc and all will be well. You never want to enable "Guest" account for various reasons dealing with security.
