    I use xp pro ,all of asuden my comp will not shut down , reinstalled xp and still does not shut down.

      Can you reboot? Can just you use the power button to sjut down? try to get all the pathches and drivers from your hardware vender and go to device manager and make sure all teh devices are working properly. this could be hardware problem not just a software problem

      I had a similar problem some time ago. Try going to start and run. Type in sfc /scannow and make sure that your Windows xp disk is in the cd drive. This will make sure that all your original protected windows files are intact and correct those that are not.
