shut down dialogue

I would like to have a solution to the persistant issue of:

?this program has prformed an illegal opreation and will be shut down, if problem persists
contact program vendor?

that is displayed at shutdown or restart in 4 times of every 5. When it happens the shut down sequence is disoriented and typically preceeds the ScanDisk routine.

I have read that it may be due to video driver issues but I really can?t figure it out, I have up to date driver software,

I am using a Creative 16mb TNT2 card and am using the 650 driver update, BlasterControl4 display center as well as Detonator3

I have also installed the Windows ShutDownSupplement3, what gives?
