Shut Down on Start Menu has gone.

One of the pc's in a library supervised by my wife cannot be shutdown normaly because the Shut Down on the Start Menu has dissapeared. It is used by the public for internet access only. No other functions or drives can be acced by the public. The OSis W95. I do not know what the machine make is. Any ideas?

Click the Start button and go to settings and in the menu select the task bar and atart menu and check the settings to make sure you have maintained start menu items.
Only other option would be to run the operating system cd only.

You need to edit the registry and go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

and make sure there is nothing stated in the right pane saying noshutdown. If there is then it needs to be deleted and the system rebooted. Hope this helps. Jerry

A simpler solution to the registry edit above is to press Ctrl, Alt & Delete, and click on the Shutdown button there.
