shut down problem with windows 98se

By jaimecolon65 ·
My computer will not shut down, it constantly reboots when I go to START>SHUTDOWN>SHUTDOWN

I do not select restart but that is what it does.

What can I check on my system to stop this.

First try disabling Fast Shutdown, this also should apply to Power Mnagement
Then you may want to Ref themicrosoft knowledgebase for a fix to Windows 98SE shut down problems
You can also ref past post in Tech Republic to see what solutions have been offered

just a quess, did your computer (when it worked right), shut off the power supply on its own after you gave command? if so it may be the power supply. have seen two of them do this.
have also seen win 98 problems do this, though already mentioned.
