How do you fix windows 2000 when the shutdown option is chosen and doesn't automatically powers down the computer

This problem occurs when the OS is corrupted. It has something to do with a corrupt registry entry. Microsoft doesn't have any articles describing this issue. Reloading the server fixed the problem. I did try the repair option off the CD, but that did not fix the problem. Only reloading solve this issue.

This happens when APM is not enabled.

Open Device Manager.

Under view, select show hidden / show all.

Right click on APM.

Choose Enable.
