Shutdown a networked PC after a period of inactivity

Sounds sendsible for Schools etc, Anyone know how to do it?

You did say after period of inactivity, so the easiest way is to create a new GPO, setting the power management settings the way you want (see http://blogs.technet.com/askds/archive/2008/03/17/managing-power-with-group-policy-part-1-of-3.aspx), and then link the GPO to an OU in your ADUC which contains or will contain the computer objects to which you want to apply the policy.

If you want to shutdown the computers at a specific time, a small batch job using the shutdown.exe command running against a text file list of your computers, launched at a specific time as a scheduled task on one of your servers is the way to go, IMO.
