Why is the signature option grayed out, yet the availability of creating a signature in MSWord works?

I assume you are referring to MS Outlook. If so, then it is because of the format of the email you have set. Try changing it to HTML or Rich Text. The box should light at that point.

Good luck!

Thanks. I have Rich Text in the box and have tried HTML. Am using office 2k with win98 2nd edition. Still it will not highlight the signature box.

The first question I have is where are you seeing rich text or html...off of the format menu in the new messge window or out of tools and then options off of the main outlook screen.

I would try to open a new message, type a signature in the messagte windows, highlight it and then choose insert and then signature.

Good luck to you

Mark

Actually, both answers were correct!!! But on the first answer, it cannot be Rich Text, it has to be HTML, but then you have to uncheck the use of Word as the email editor.
The Second answer is correct is you are using Rich Text and have Word checked...you write a signature, go to insert, (then another sub-menu I forget) and click on signature. Then Word places the signature into the mail message automatically. SORRY ABOUT THE POINTS FOR BILL CASSADA...HE SHOULD GET POINTS, TOO.
