    Sim Card Reader RS-232 error

Hi. First of all I would like to apologize if my question seems stupid. I’m a university student and one of my assignments require me to extract deleted messages from a sim card. I bought a sim card reader online but it keeps giving me this error.

“The system could not be connected to card reader!
Please ensure card reader is connected to RS232 and SIM
card is plugged into card reader correctly.”

This is the sim card reader I bought:

If you have any idea what could be wrong, please let me know. I’ve hit a major dead end and there seems to be no answer for this. Any idea or suggestion is highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

On the picture I see a CD, a sim-card still in it’s container and something to plug into a USB-port. Nothing that fits into a RS-232 port.

And I doubt if any recent PC with Windows still has a RS-232 port to connect a serial device (like a 300 bps dial-up modem as used, well, 25 years ago) to.

So it’s quite unclear what you have and what you do. Please tell more about your PC, the card reader, its user manual and the drivers you installed.

And are you sure there are no Android apps to recover files from a SIM-card on your phone?

      That’s a warranty issue.

If the maker and seller fail you, you go for a refund and try some other products.
