Simple File Sharing disables self

By LigurZA ·
We have a Novell Netware 6.5 environment, Windows XP (mainly SP1, some SP2). We are using the Novell Client 4.90 SP2. We would prefer to use Simple File Sharing (SFS) to allow our users to share data and printers (we are moving to iFolder, iPrint in the near future). We have found that when this "enabled", you have to re-enable it every restart/login. If you don't re-do it every time, then it doesn't work. When you try access the machine from another PC it says - "Login Failure: the user has been granted the requested logon type at this computer." I have resorted to using the classsic file sharing, but this means creating a user account for everyone that wants to access your machine/their machine on the PCs. This isn't very viable. Has anyone else found this?

Make sure the Windows Firewall is turned off. This is a common issue. See this article for details on configuration:

Can you start at looking in the eventviewer for me, and make a note of the events that are system and application log files (after a reboot)and post them.
And also have you guy's done any security changes recently ?
What happens with and administrative account /

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer mirkin using any of the configured protocols.

DCOM got error "Class not registered " from the computer zohra-wwf when attempting to activate the server:

These too things stand out.

Are you using ZenWorks in your Netware environment, check policies to make sure Simple shareing is not affected.
You can also check Local Security policy or GRoup Policy to see if Simple Shareing is affected as well.

We think one of our settings, which is deployed by ZfD is disabling the SFS. We have the found the registry key, ForecGuest, and will try figure out what is causing the problem.

Thanks.
