Simple SQL/Exchange Hardware Question.

By shmaltz ·
I have 2 Questions.
1. Can MS SQL 2000 Standard edition be installed on a system that has more than one CPU?
2. Can MS Exchange Server Standard Edition be installed on a system with more than one CPU?

MS SQL Standard Edition can be used on symmetric multiprocessing systems with up to 4 CPUs and 2 GB of RAM.

Exchange will run fine on a dual processor machine.

I know that it can be used on a multiprocesser system. My question however is: Will the licensing in the standard editions of SQL 2000 and Exchange 2000 allow me to install it on a mutiprecesser system?

If your question was about licensing, why did you not state that in your original question??
For MS SQL. You can either go with a per seat license (CAL, or Client Access License) or a per processor license. If you have enough per seat licenses youare ok.
For Exchange you can only use Per Seat (CAL) so running on a dual processor machine is okay.
Use this link if you want more specifics.
