I have a user that has a Simpletech 160 gig USB hard drive. She has had it about a year, give or take a few months, so it SHOULD be compatible with Windows Vista.
However, when I plug this drive into a computer running Vista it just cylces through the install process continuously. Vista detects the drive, and attempts to install it, but it never does, it just quits and starts over. This happens as long as the drive is plugged into the machine.
I checked the drive in an laptop running XP and it works fine, no problems what so ever. So I know there isn’t anything wrong with the drive. I checked the Disk management system, and there is no drive that is detected there either, I think it wont display until it can install whatever software it needs to install to work, but I can’t get it to install it just quits and starts the loop all over again. I checked the Simpletech web page and nothing really turned up on this topic.
Has anyone seen this before? I am not sure how to fix this problem.
