Sirc 32 virus

By techadmin ·
I have netware 3.12 server. Recently I found that the recycled folder is affected by Sirc32 virus.
I heard about the removal tool for this whcih is available at symantec site. This tool is for windows machines. And it scans for virus in c:\windows directory.
The problem is Netware 3.12 server is dos based. The how to run this virus removal tool. Is there any other way to remove this virus from the wiondows workstation.
Thank You.

Aha, that explains you other question. NetWare 3.12 may look like "DOS" based, but if you map a drive to it (map g:=sys:) you can then scan that drive from your Win9x client, using any recent virus scanner.

Careful though, as far as I know SirCam (others may have to correct me on this), it indeed puts itself in Windows, and only damages files on other shares, or tries to put rubbish there. As far as I know it does not infect network files as such.

The recycle folder is on your Windows machine, not the NetWare server. The cheapest way to get rid of the virus is to download the free DOS-based AV program from F-Prot. It works very well. You can also follow the directions available at McAfee.com to manually remove it. But it is not a server issue.
