Site to site VPN using Firewall-1 v.3.x

By computer_blues ·
Need to setup site-to-site VPN with offsite location. Remote location has a Symantec appliance Firewall/Router box. We are using Checkpoint Firewall-1, v.3.0b. Can we setup VPN between the two firewalls, or do we have to upgrade our Firewall? Need some options.

Thanks,
Computer_Blues

I recommend purchasing SafeNET which is
an easy to use VPN client software that has
high security encryption such as DES, 3DES
and alot more.

VPN's are complicated and vary from network
to network although the basic idea remains
the same.

SafeNET even allows for you not to have two
static IP addresses. You can set it up to
identify using Preshared keys, MS-CHAP
authentication and much more.

Enable passthrough on your routers, adsl etc,

If you have XP or W2k you don't need VPN
client software because it is capable of using
IPSec that is included with both OS.

Simply create a new network connection and
select VPN. It is very straight foward but you
must have IPSec passthrough enabled on
routers etc. You also must have a static ip
address on both ends otherwise you will
manually have to type in your dynamic ip
address assigned by your isp everytime you
connect your vpn.

hope this helps.
