thanks for the reply. I guess what I wanted to know is if you have a backup selection that goes straight to tape, and the tape isn't available at the time, is there any way of finding out from ntbackup/logs/other area just how much was backed up (short of manually adding up all the disk space of course).
i would go lookigng for that info in the log... just for the sake of conversation, what chu doing? trying to keep track of how much room is on the tape? trying to see if important stuff made it onto tape? what i am gettig at is there might be easier way. what os?
yes, trying to make sure the tape isn't going to run out any time soon, and also to see how much more can be fitted onto it (the disk space growth rate has recently been very significant and rapid).
OS - a couple of OS's - 2000 server and 2003 server.

size of backup
I was just wondering if there was a definitive way of finding out how much is backed up by ntbackup?
Thanks, Gillian
