Size of Partitions

By cyntomcomputer ·
I sized my c partition on windows 2000 Server with 2 gigs and have 400mb left. Is this enough unused space to run windows 2000 server? My second partition has 16 gigs. if I have to make my c drive larger can I do it without having to start over and reload windows?

Greetings,

The MINIMUM required space for a Windows 2000 Server system partition is 400MB. Depending on your anticipated "growing" needs, it's recommended that you at least double that.

Software like "Partition Magic" can manipulate your existing partitions without affecting your operating system and data files.

Good luck,

Maxwell

I would resize your partition. You can install 2000 Server on a 2 gig partition, but if you install anything extra (i.e. terminal services) you'll start running out of space real quick. Ran into that problem on several occaions.

I would use partition magic and resize your c drive to 4 gig. This allows more space for your swap file, and your os will run smoother.

I would increase the partition to 4gigs to allow enough room for swap files and other software you may add later.
