What is the difference between Size on Disk and Size in folder/file properties?

Size on Disk vs Size

Size means just that, the actual size of the file. Size on disk, takes into account the block size of the partition and shows that. Ie. a 127K word file is 127K in size. ON a partition with a 4k block size, it takes up 32 blocks (32 x 4K = 128K) so the actual size on disk (because of the 1k wasted space in the block) is reported as 128K.

Size on disk also takes into account compression on NTFS volumes.
