Slave drive says format disc after xp installation

by djaeyst . Updated 18 years, 12 months ago

Originally I had XP professional installed on my computers c: drive(40GB), my drive D: was 250GB & stored my backup data. After copying most of C onto D:, I then installed XP home w/SP2 onto my C: drive. Now my D: drive reads 0 data, 0 space available, and when selected in my computer, indicates the disc needs to be formatted. Even when placced in an external drive mounting kit the windows indicates the drive needs formatting. Zero assumption recover(ZAR) application shows some files but not the important ones. Any help recovering all files would be appreciated?
