Slipstreamed SP2 unattended problem

by beermonster . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

Hi,
I have created an unattended install using Win2k advanced server with SP2 slipstreamed into the source. The build CD contains the post build apps that are being installed, and the I386 directory. The build works fine, but I’m running into a problem when I attempt to dcpromo, during a post build customisation phase, using an answer file. When it reaches the point at which it installs DNS, Win2k prompts first for the “service pack 2 CD” and then prompts for the advanced server source. On each occasion, setup will not continue until I physically browse to the cd\I386 directory, despite the fact that in each case the default location win2k shows in the browse box IS cd\I386. I will be looking at installing DNS during the unattended build phase today, But I’d REALLY like to know why this is happening, as I may run into it again in the future. note – It’s not possible for me to dcpromo during the unattended phase, as I have no idea of target hardware and cannot guarantee that the static IP I assign during the build will be applied. Thanks in advance….
