Intermittently, my cursor operates at about 1/10 speed (and slows from there to a virtual standstill) upon booting up in the a.m.; often, it’s only after I open either IE or Word 2000 that the problem begins. One or two reboots minimum are necessary to correct the flaw. The system then performs normally for the duration of the session. This happens on average every 3-4 days, on the other days booting normally. I’m using a simple MS mouse (checked for driver updates and I have the latest one), AMD K-6 400 chip, Windows 98SE. I’ve stripped my Start menu down to the basics…. I think. The problem has surfaced only since I installed (and subsequently uninstalled, save for the Virus Scan) McAfee Office 3.0 and did same for a recent incarnation of Napster. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
