Slow Home network on Windows XP Pro

By Des ·
Any idea why an XP Based Desktop would take a long time to display the shared folders on two other Win Me stations? Problem did not exist when all stations were running on ME.

10 mbps Hub.
XP Station using Netbeui and TCP protocols but not IPX.

Interesting. I would turn off Netbeui though for starters. Sorry, I don't know much about XP. I am still on 2000 and will be for some time.

I have the same problem in Win 2k when i try to access FAT32 drives.
Basically ure WinXP config probably uses NTFS as the file system. Win ME uses FAT32. I think thats where ure problem is. I would consider upgrading to XP or downgrading back to MEto solve this. Also running defragmenter etc to tidy the filesystem could also help.

This makes sense logically. Thanks for confirming my first suspicion.
