Slow PC performance

By hogata ·
When I check the Local Area Connection Status, there is a large amount of data transfer recieving and sending. There are no applications open, no dead mapped drives, Indexing service is uninstalled. Data movement is in the range of 15-20 or more MBs per 2 hours

Go to the command prompt.
execute command netstat. It shows where to machine is connected.
netstat -a gives more detailed list.

Computer Specifications???

If this is a "Server" then it's rather expected as a server processes services running your network. How many client computers in your environment? How many other servers? OS? What services are you running?

If this is a client computer -- then it should not be happening. I'd look for viruses/trojans, etc.

Try running
NET STATISTICS SERVER
and
NET STATISTICS WORKSTATION

to get some idea of what is going on.
Also, try a NET USE to see any open but disconnected connections.

Now, this is also not assuming that this is a file server, print server, or something like that.
