I beleive part of the slow startup for Win XP is that it searches for all the shared network folders. Since I visit a number of sites I have over 20 shortcuts, but only 1/4 would be connected. Is there a way to prevent this search and speed up the startup? Thank you in advance

only way to do it is to disconnect the drives i would suggest creating a batch script that connects the drives and disconnects them which would make this easy for you
