Sluggish Win2k

by lizlong . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

A couple of weeks ago, I removed (from my printers folder) a HP printer with a LPT1 connection. No problem there, done it plenty of times. I then tried to install the same printer but using a serial printer cable. While the printer drivers, etc were installing the process locked up and I had to Ctl/Atl/Del to get to task manager and stop the install. The printer then appeared in the printers folder although it would not print. Test print failed as well. I decided to remove the printer and reinstall using original parallel cable/config. The printer is working fine but the server is now sluggish at initial login and initial startup of any programs. Once the programs start they run fine, it just takes a while. Client logins are not any slower than before. Any ideas?
Thanks
