Small Business Server Install Error

By Jeremy The IT Guy ·
I have installed Small Business Server 2000. When I go to install the other components like SQL Server and Exchange Server, I get an error with the install with SQL Server. The error "Unexpected Error" occurs and I can't install SQL Server. Anyoneelse experience this and how did you get it fixed? Thanks, Jeremy

is this an upgrade of SBS? if so, from what version, service pack level. is this an install on top of existing SQL server? if so, what version, service pack level. what is the exact error message, is there more besides unexpected error. how far do you get with the install?

Small Business Server Install Error

I'm giving this an "Unacceptable" only because we are working through it. Once resolved, the points are yours. To answer your questions, this is not an upgrade. This is also not an install over anything including SQL Server. I am doing a fresh install from the beginning. When I install SBS, everything goes great. I then am prompted to insert Disk 1 so that I can configure my server. When I do so, I define my domain, company info, etc. Once the server is setup as a DC, I can then installother components (ISA,Exhange,SQL Server and SBS Software). I choose to install ONLY the SBS software and SQL Server (I tried installing all components but got to the same point with the same results) and when it tries to install the SQL Server portion, it acts like it's installing but then, I get a red X beside it. In the end, I can see what was wrong and all I get is "Unexpected Error." I'm lost and I hope you can help. Thanks, Jeremy

Nothing in the Event Viewer and the ideas regarding service stopping, already tried. Got documentation online. Funny thing is that most of those aren't installed yet anyways. It possible that I have bad media but... I will keep this open but if I don't have an answer soon, I'm going to install SQL Server separately and forget the whole thing. No worries. Thanks alot, Jeremy
